Wah-Wah
During the mixing process more effects were added to the sounds:
the voices got echoes, the downloaded drumkit loop was slowed down by 15% to match the tempo of the other tracks and the Philharmonia bass drum sample was given a classic 1960s effect... wah-wah.
Stage 3: Mixing
Mixing
In order to mix the sounds together another piece of free software was used, called Audacity.
Volume Adjustment: All the sounds needed volume adjustments to get their desired level in the mix relative to the others. In particular the vouce samples were far too loud.
Stereo Settings: each track is 'panned' to the desired location in the stereo spectrum. By altering the balance between the left and right speaker each sound is given a 'location' which enables the first 'cmon!' in the track to come from the extreme left and the second one to come from the extreme right.
Arranging: This is the best bit about creating a new piece!
The sounds are assembled in whatever order required. They can be repeated and also overlap each other and whenever needed the current arrangement can be listened to by hitting the play button.
